I’m terribly confused with the headline and the content of the article. As far as I know there was a homicide. That’s it. The PD later finding out he’s a sex offender doesn’t have any bearing right now b/c we don’t know if the motive was b/c the deceased was a registered sex offender.

With very little information about the motive and the fact we know it’s a homicide, why does belittling his existence after death have such great importance to the public?

Isn’t this proof, like other news, that makes the registry “cruel and unusual” punishment that includes after death?

I agree with you, New Person. On a slow news day, would one of us be the headline news story because we were pulled over for a parking infraction: “Registered Sex Offender Ticketed for Double Parking Violation” (large photo from S.O. website included, of course)? No doubt yes. 😡
…… “sex offender seen taking trash cans to curb” ….. “sex offender seen buying groceries identified” …… “has this sex offender shopped in your local mall ….filled his gas tank ….. used the Post Office near you …… watched the same TV Evening News you watch?

At least it wasn’t a father that was killed, or a neighbor, a son or a friend, or even a fellow human being. It was just a Registered Sex Offender. And now we can all sleep better at night or whatever tf.

The fact that he was listed as “violent against children” may have nothing to do with violence at all. TN routinely labels those on the registry who have non-contact-non-violent offenses as “violent against children” and it’s time defamation suits were brought against this backwards,.backwoods state.

I agree, the fact that the man who was killed was a registrant, doesn’t seem to have anything at all to do with this story. Media hype, that’s all it is, get the ratings, make a headline. It’ sickening.
